Why is my Bryant furnace not working? ›

Check the circuit breakers at the electrical panel. Check the SSU switch (it looks like a light switch on a gray box located at the furnace) to be sure it is in the “ON” position. Check to ensure the furnace filter isn't in need of replacement. All one-inch thick furnace filters should be replaced monthly.

Bryant air conditioners are no different. However, unlike other companies that manufacture air conditioners, the brand doesn't have a reset button on the air conditioner. You have to reset the device by resetting the circuit breaker in your house.

Follow These Steps To Reset Your Bryant Thermostat:

Locate the circuit breaker box and find the circuit breaker that is associated with your air conditioner unit. Then reset the circuit breaker for your air conditioner unit. Wait for 30 seconds to let the device calm down before turning the AC thermostat back on.

Look for any tripped breakers and reset them if necessary. Often, a tripped breaker can disrupt the power supply to your thermostat. Additionally, ensure that the thermostat's wiring connections are secure and tightly connected. Loose or disconnected wires can cause power loss.

The cause of your furnace not blowing hot air could be the thermostat configuration, a dirty air filter, the high limit switch, a clogged condensate line, insufficient fuel, leaky ducts, ignition problems, a blocked burner, flame sensor issues, gas valve malfunctions, a cracked heat exchanger, or a clogged coil.

Dirt, debris, furniture, rugs and other items block airflow into and through the furnace – causing overheating. Check the air filter and replace if dirty. Clear away all items stored around your furnace – keep at least 6 feet of clearance. Ensure all vents in your home are open and unblocked so air freely circulates.

There is usually a small reset button somewhere on the thermostat. Finding this button may require that the thermostat panel be removed and pressing this button may require something like a paperclip to push. Hold the reset button down for 5 seconds and the thermostat should reset.

Look for it first around on the exterior of your machine, especially along the bottom edge near the ground. An AC's reset button is typically red and visible, so it should be easy to spot. If you don't see a reset button on the outside, it could be located inside the unit behind the service panel.

A few things may go wrong that cause a thermostat to turn unresponsive: Loss of direct connection to the air handler or compressor. There are separate wires from the thermostat to the parts of the air conditioner, and if one of them frays or breaks, the AC may not turn on (or may not turn off).
