What Alcohol To Use In Sangria Mimosas

For this recipe, we will be using:

  • 4 oz Amaretto
  • 1 bottle pinot gris or other light white wine
  • 1 bottle Prosecco, chilled

When selecting your amaretto and sparkling wine, you’ll want to pick brands you love the flavor of.

I personally prefer La Marca Prosecco for this drink – its light, crisp flavor pairs perfectly with fruit, and it can usually be found for under $20.

I recommend a very cheap slightly sweet white wine for the sangria base – I personally prefer Rene Barbier Mediterranean White (under $10) – which isn’t normally a pick when cooking, but in sangria with fruit and amaretto, I find cheaper white wines taste much better.

Pick an amaretto brand you like – since we’re not using a ton, you can also buy little bottles.

How To Pre-Make Sangria For Mimosas

We really prefer the flavor of this drink when made 1-2 hours ahead of time, so the fruit and alcohol can come together better.

To make ahead of time, mix all ingredients EXCEPT sparkling wine, and cover with plastic wrap in a pitcher. Refrigerate for up to 8 hours.

To mix, pour refrigerated fruit and alcohol into glass, and top up with sparkling wine. Stir to mix.

While we’re using oranges and strawberries here, you can add all sorts of fruit to help flavor your co*cktail.

  • Apples
  • Oranges
  • Blackberries
  • Blueberries
  • Strawberries
  • Raspberries
  • Kiwis (skin removed)
  • Dragonfruit
  • Starfruit
  • Grapes

We recommend lightly pressing fruit with the back of a spoon to help release more of the fruit’s flavor.

You can also use frozen fruit in summer to help keep your drink cold!
