I like candy just as much as the next person.

Or probably more than the next person because I have no issues going out at 10pm to snag a Hershey or KitKat or whatever is on my mind at the moment. Honestly, some of my organic friends would probably have a heart attack if they lived anywhere near me. In any case I can also appreciate having candy in the house. If it means more accessibility and more of it, I am so in.

This week I bring you some of my weakness for that of the caramel and chocolate persuasion… Homemade Snickers Bars. Melty caramel, crunch peanuts, marshmallow nougat, its all there. This perfect copycat homemade snickers is so delicious it will having you want to make homemade candy bars all the time!

Homemade Snickers

  • Parchment paper (do not leave this out!)
  • 2 cups milk chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup butterscotch chips
  • 3/4 cup creamy peanut butter ( I use natural)
  • 1/4 cup butter (not margarine)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 1/2 cups marshmallow creme (7 oz)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups peanuts
  • 1 (11 ounce) package caramels (in baking aisle)
  • 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream

How to make Homemade Snickers

Put Parchment paper down and up the sides of a 9×13 pan.

You may need to bind it to the pan until your layers build up!

Melt together 1 cup milk chocolate chips, 1/4 cup butterscotch chips, and 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter in saucepan on low (stirring so as not to scorch or burn) and then layer inside your pan.

Put into freezer to hold while you go onto the next step.

Take your 1/4 cup butter, 1 cup sugar, and 1/4 cup evaporated milk and put on stove till boiling.

Let boil for 5 minutes while stirring every now and again.

Remove your hot pan and add 1 1/2 cups marshmallow creme, 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter, 1 teaspoon vanilla, and 1 1/2 cups of peanuts.

After mixing all your ingredients, add on the 2nd layer to your pan and put back in freezer.

Carefully melt caramels with 1/4 cup whipping creme and then pour over your next layer.

One more time, melt 1 cup milk chocolate chips, 1/4 cup butterscotch chips, and 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter and then you can spread on your last layer.

I left mine in the freezer a few hours to set and then moved to fridge.

Keeping cold is optional once set and it should stay bound together just fine.
