Summertime Peach Whiskey Sour Recipe
One of our favorite restaurants to eat at is True Food Kitchen. Founded by Dr. Andrew Weil, the food is nutritious and always in-season. They have yummy food and the most delicious co*cktails too! And I admit that sometimes I go just for their drinks. Hehe!
In fact, my Fall Spiced Whiskey Sour was created based off their fall menu. We made that drink so many times in the fall and winter months last year. It was an all-around favorite. So, now that it is summer (even if summer is coming to an end) I am sharing another True Food Kitchen copycat recipe. This time I am recreating their Peaches and Bourbon recipe.
Peaches and whiskey are a match made in heaven. Add in some lemon juice and a pinch of cinnamon, and this Peach Whiskey Sour tastes like a fresh peach pie. I kid you not!
And I have created a shortcut so you can whip up a batch of these co*cktails without having to have fresh peaches on hand!
Ok, let’s get down to the mixing (and drinking) of these peach whiskey sours.
The Peaches & Bourbon co*cktail at True Food Kitchen is definitely peach forward. So, I knew I wanted to have that fresh fruit flavor and not use a peach flavored liquor. Ahem, peach schnapps is not coming into play here! To get that fresh summer peach flavor, I tried two different methods. And both proved to be amazing!
Whiskey Sours made with Jam Preserves
Getting that peach flavor infused into these co*cktails could be done by making a peach simple syrup using fresh fruit, but I don’t like co*cktails that require a lot of work. So, I thought, why not try using some peach preserves?! Take a 3 tablespoon of peach jam and place in the bottom of your co*cktail shaker. Add 4 tablespoon of warm water and stir it up to get it a bit mixed in.
Add the rest of your ingredients and lots of ice and then shake it well. The peach preserves will give the perfect flavor and allows you to whip up some co*cktails without having any fresh fruit on hand. Once you are done shaking, strain and pour into a pretty co*cktail glass and serve with a slice of peach, a sprig of thyme or lemon twist.
Note: Make sure you strain the co*cktails well. You don’t want too many lumps of preserves making it into your co*cktail glass.

Bourbon Whiskey Sours made with Peach Nectar
Another method that is just as delicious, is to make these whiskey sours using peach nectar. Fresh juice is always a good thing when it comes to co*cktails in my opinion.
This version is not the same as the printable recipe below, so here are the instructions. Add 1/2 cup of fresh peach juice, 1 egg white, juice of 2 lemons, 4 ounces of whiskey and pinch of cinnamon to your shaker, add ice and shake, shake, shake until frothy and cold (about 30 seconds). Serve ice cold in a co*cktail glass garnished with a lemon twist. Makes 2 co*cktails.
And since this method doesn’t require the straining that the jam version does, it’s currently winning in my book!
Easy Variations on This Recipe
There are a few variations you can take on this simple co*cktail recipe.
Skip the Egg Whites
The first is to make the peach whiskey sours without egg whites. Traditional whiskey sours have the frothy top and look beautiful. Not only that, but sipping a frothy co*cktail feels indulgent and fun. But, if the raw egg whites aren’t your thing, you can totally skip it!
Serve it Over Ice
The second way to switch up this recipe is by serving the drinks over ice. My fall spiced whiskey sours are served over ice and I love how they taste as the ice melts and kind of softens all the flavors as they mix together.
Batch co*cktail Recipe
And finally, this drink could make for a great batch co*cktail recipe! We are having our neighborhood block party tonight and I am going to try making a big batch of these co*cktails for the group. I’ll keep you posted!
