Congratulate me, I changed jobs! Now I have been working at Raiffeisenbank for about 4 monthsWhy didn’t I write right away, but am writing now?I have two reasons why I didn’t talk about the job change earlier:First reason: I never talk about changing jobs before the probationary period expires. I had a situation where I left for a new company and told all my friends about it. And as you guessed, I left the new company very quickly, after 2 months .Now I don't make that mistake. The second reason. I accepted the offer with a downgrade. Funny situation. In my job offer there was a description of “position - systems analyst.” I thought, “Okay. The position meets my expectations."But after 1.5 months, I accidentally saw that the company had the position “Senior Systems Analyst”, and my position was “Middle Systems Analyst”. I was depressed and disappointed. I didn’t even think that I could get an offer for a non-senior position, since in my last three jobs I had the position of “Senior Systems Analyst”. I'm not saying I have to be a Senior Specialist! No! I just didn’t think or clarify my position. It was stupid. In the end, the story had a good ending. I have requested a re-evaluation of the position and have been successful in requesting it. A week ago I received a job upgrade. From this experience I drew two conclusions:1. It is important to carefully study a job offer to avoid disappointments and surprises in the future.2. If you find a discrepancy between expectations and reality, do not hesitate to act and promote your interests.I'm glad to share this experience with you and hope that my observations will be useful!

4 weeks prior to 9/11, I quit my job in the World Trade Center.I worked on the 81st floor for a company called Network Plus.Thankfully everyone in the company made it, but not a day goes by that I don't remember that experience. It was my very first job out of college. I'll never forget:→ Wearing a suit→ Commuting to work (2 hrs each way)→ Waking up at 5am and feeling important→ Being part of the buzz of working in NYCWithin days that buzz was replaced by the reality of:→ Making 150 cold calls a day→ Having to answer to two bosses→ More rejection than I'd ever faced in my entire life→ Seeing the misery on the faces of others wearing suitsI had only been on the job for about 6-8 weeks before I looked for another one, got an offer, and resigned immediately.Looking back on it I'm grateful. Here's why:It was my first lesson in what I DIDN'T want to do.And from that point on each job I had got me a bit closer to what I would realize was my goal.Whether it was a:- Shorter commute- More autonomy- Less hours- Less rejctionI kept paying attention to the things I didn't want until eventually I:- Went off on my own- Had no boss anymore- Had zero commute- Began my journey to be financially free- Was working on something I loved doingIf it weren't for all the other jobs teaching me what to avoid, I would have never landed into the spot I'm in now.- Financially free- All the time to do what I want- Having the means to do anything I want- And now getting to teach others to achieve the sameNEVER forget where you came from. But as important, USE where you came from to get where you want to go._____Enjoyed this?Repost ♻️ if you find it usefulFollow me, hit the 🔔Nat BermanYou'll get notified on my next postAnd don't forget those comments down there 👇

What unexpected insights did your first job reveal about yourself and your career path?An unexpected insight I gained from my first job is that my value as an employee mattered and I wasn't willing to compromise that. I started at a record store that no longer exists, for obvious reasons and some not so obvious ones. I loved the idea of working in a record store, romanticized it, and found out shortly into my journey it wasn't all I thought it would be. As a student they gave me a set schedule that changed on a regular basis while I was there. I worked after school, so I was never there long enough for a lunch, but decided I never wanted to take my breaks because they patted everyone down every time they left the store to avoid employee theft. In terms of work ethic, I was raised with a value of hard work, so they always got their full work day from me. As any new employee would, I had plenty of questions when it came to stocking, returns, etc. When I had questions, I would get shrugged off by other associates as if it was a chore to get me up to speed and take some of the workload off of their shoulders. They all complained about their jobs, but did nothing to change it.I decided I was worth more than this job that I calculated would take two weeks to get this high school kid some new Jordans, so I talked to people I knew and found a new job that valued me and paid me better. This brought me to my other unexpected insights that this 3 week endeavor of a job taught me: trust your inner voice and change can be a good thing.

People think I don't like Retail. But that's far from the truth.I owe everything to my career in Retail.I wouldn't be where I am today without it.When I started my Retail job straight out of school.I could barely look at people in the eye when talking to them.I was shy and had no people skills.Roll on 10 years and I was leading teams of hundreds. It's not that I'm not grateful for my Retail career. But I spent years unhappy with my work/life situation. My Retail career was no longer fit for the person I had become. We can kid ourselves that Retail will change. And maybe one day it will. But if you find yourself fed up and frustrated. That feeling doesn't go away.Trust me I know, I ignored it until it started to impact me mentally.I wasn't a good person to be around at the worst moments. And that's why I do what I do, not because I dislike Retail.I'm here for that person that needs help.I'm here for you. There was no one there for me that understood my situation. But there is someone now.Reach out and find out how I can help you._______If you liked this, join my weekly Retail Escape Newsletter and discover how to secure your dream career outside of retail without taking a pay cut or using ineffective job search websites: https://lnkd.in/eA3VezAk

Linear careers are overrated. 📉 I've had more career pivots than a series of Lost. 🔄 The day my national insurance card invaded my home at age 16, without hesitation my mum mercilessly dumped me at Runcorns finest "shopping city" (google it for the irony) with a stack of CVs. 🏬 💡 Her words of wisdom... 'Go into each shop, ask for the manager 🕴️ and hand these in, I'll be back in a bit.' Cheers... 🤦♂️ I failed to look beyond her cruelty and couldn't see that she was dishing out my first taste of "adaptability" 🔄 Since then I've worked in 3 different sectors, in 9 different functions, and been promoted several times. I've gone from TK Maxx Christmas temp to a Researcher for a global insurer. 🌍📚 Pivots come in all shapes and sizes and should be welcomed whenever they arise. I used to be a beer-swilling semi-professional rugby player 🏉🍺, leaning into stereotypes masking to fit in and be who everyone thought I should be or wanted me to be. Now I'm a tea total father 👨👧👦, with a recent ADHD diagnosis and focus on learning and continuous improvement both professionally and personally. My point to all this waffle is that nothing is straightforward, and I'm perfectly okay with that. If your path (professional or otherwise) is a little unconventional, then so... what...?! It's yours... I used to see mine as a weakness, but that perspective no longer exists. Turns out, Mum knew what she was doing. 👵👏 Is your career straightforward? or a bit more chaotic? and if so, how do you feel about it? 💼🤔 If you've made it this far - hats off to you, why are you procrastinating? 😅

Site accommodation for wind projects in Scandinavia

In 2020 I lost my job. Have to admit it came as a bit of a surprise. I really liked my job. When the shock had worn off, it was time to think as well as to consult my gut feeling. What was it that I REALLY wanted to do for a living? In which direction should I go now?For me there were two ways to go about it:1. Being 50+ years I could go through a long proces of applying for a new job as an employee. Best case scenario: I would get a new job after a period of unemployment that would pay the bills. A job that I – to be realistic – most probably would be semi enthusiastic about. 2. I could try my best to KEEP ON DOING what I had done in my former job – what I really liked to do. In that case I would have to start my own little company within the exact same line of business (providing accommodation for companies working within the wind industry).Ok, hadn’t thought about option 2 earlier. But after considering both options for about a week – with both my heart and my brain, I realized, that it was from option 2 that I got all the energy and adrenalin.I decided to ask a former customer, if we could meet for a cup of coffee.I wanted to tell him what had happened, and that I had decided to start my own business. When we met for coffee, he said: ”Hans-Henrik, we know you much better than we know the company you used to work for. We have a project for you within the next few month”.I will never forget that meeting.Thank you!
