Homemade shaving butter

This shaving butter recipe is rich, creamy, and fluffy. Basically, everything you want for a close shave. It also helps prevent cuts and irritation. The nourishing ingredients soothe and moisturize skin. My husband uses this shaving butter every time he shaves, and loves it. I also really like using it.

Customize it

I normally make this with a combination of tea tree and lavender essential oils. Those are great for soothing skin and preventing irritation. But, you could definitely get really creative, depending on who you’re making it for.

For a masculine scent, you could replace most of the lavender with something like cedarwood. There are a lot of possibilities! Just make sure the the essential you use is good for soothing skin, and won’t irritate it.

The perfect Father’s Day gift

This is one of those handmade body care products that make the perfect, unique gift. Father’s Day is coming up soon. Keep this shaving butter recipe in mind! Package it up with a personalized label and some rustic wrapping, and it will make the ultimate practical gift.

Safety first

If you’re using this shaving butter in the shower, keep in mind that it could make the shower floor a bit slippery. You might use a nonslip shower mat, or sit on the edge of the bathtub or on a shower seat when you use it.

This shaving butter recipe doesn’t use any water, so no preservative is needed. But, you will want to make sure to only use clean, dry hands when removing it from the jar for use. Otherwise, if you introduce water into the mixture, it could mold or spoil.
