The Remington 700 VTR has a distinctively contoured 22″ barrel with integral muzzle brake to dampen recoil and lessen muzzle rise. This centerfire rifles triangular barrel reduces weight while simultaneously promoting rigidity and fast heat dissipation. In addition to its built-in bipod the Remington 700 VTR sports many classic Remington features including the effective SuperCell recoil pad externally adjustable X-Mark Pro trigger system and solid 3-rings-of-steel receiver design. The ergonomic ventilated tactical synthetic stock offers superior handling and complements the barrel for additional heat dissipation. Available in multiple calibers including 223 Rem and 308 Win.

Remington operated over 200 years before shuttering for bankruptcy in 2020. A mainstay was the very popular Remington 700, in constant production since 1962. Remington made over 5,000,000 of them. The 700 also spawned the Remington 721 and 722 sniper guns and was made in the town of Ilion, New York.
Though the 700 family of centerfire bolt-action rifles has been around for decades, Remington has reinvested in improved tooling to make the weapon to tighter tolerances and standards.
The entire 700 series shares some excellent characteristics. For instance, their barrels are cold hammer forged for increased strength. Their conical tactical bolt knobs enjoy nicely textured surrounds. They also have precision 5R rifling that results in less deformation and easier cleaning. For safety and durability, 700s have Remington’s Three Rings of Steel design. This means the bolt face has a recess that encloses the cartridge head, the barrel surrounds the bolt shroud and the barrel threads into the hardened steel receiver.
At the bottom of each 700 is a crisp Remington X-Mark Pro user-adjustable trigger that’s factory set to 3.5 pounds of pull pressure, but users can adjust it from 3 to 5 pounds. It is nickel-plated, corrosion resistant and housed within a glove-friendly oversized trigger guard. In back is a Supercell Recoil Pad that soaks up felt recoil by 54% compared to other similar pads.
All this helps explain the remarkable popularity of the Made in USA Remington 700 family of bolt-action rifles.
The .308 Win. Model 700 Varmint-Tactical Rifle is a revolutionary system optimized for extended range precision and mobility.
The Model 700 VTR was designed as a varmint gun, but it would serve admirably as an urban sniper rifle, too, hence the “VTR” (Varmint Tactical Rifle)
